Ranges is a computer generated text and visual poetic sequence, permuting words from two lists. The first comprises every listed synonym for the words ‘mountain’ and ‘valley’, and every synonym of every synonym; the second comprises the name of every mountain and crater on the moon. These are used to create names of fictional hills, mountains and valleys. To accompany each location, the program generates random numbers that are used to plot a skyline, position a full moon and position stars. See it in action here.
